I had a blast from the past today, my long-lost friend Jenny googled me, and called me at work this morning. I haven't seen/talked to her since 2001? So it's been a LONG time! But it was really nice to catch up with her, and share photos of the kids. Jenny and I met at HCU waaaay back in 1998 or so, and became close friends. I flew to Hilo for her wedding, and Jenny was my matron-of-honor at my wedding. It's so unreal to see how big her kids have grown up!
I also had dinner with my friend Kea'la, who's also a friend I originally met at HCU. We had dinner at La Fuente's. They're famous for their strong margaritas, but I don't drink them anymore, me and tequila just don't mix.
Dinner was delicious, I overate (as usual) and had the #40, Flautas. I ate 3 ground beef flautas, and 1/2 of the refried beans and rice. I snarfed down some chips and salsa as an appetizer, but didn't have any alcohol. Kea'la's coworkers were nice, at least the ones at my end of the table. Towards the end of the meal, before the bill arrived, about 5 of the ladies left. Yep, threw a few bucks on the table, and left. Naturally, when we tried to figure out the bill, and we contributed our fair shares, we were still $20 short. I can't stand people like that! My bill came to $9.60, and I put in $13, so there was no way I was going to chip in any more money. Kea'la and another girl put in the extra money, and were going to try to have the early birds pay them back. Apparently this wasn't the first time these girls did this either. Personally, I wouldn't go out with them again. Or at least ask for separate checks when ordering.
Kea'la and Robert came in to see the new house when they dropped me off. They liked the open concept of the living room/office/dining room/kitchen. Then poor Kea'la got trapped by my mom in the kitchen, and had to endure an hour long conversation.
All in all, it was a great day!
